Cave Bears are best known from late Pleistocene cave deposits and in European cave deposits the remains of more than 100,000 cave bears are known to have been found.

Cave bears were noticably larger than their modern day relatives, growing to around 11.5ft in length. Their remains have been found in England, Belgium, Germany, Russia, Spain, Italy, and Greece, and the animal may have reached North Africa.
