Theropod Tooth (Niger) #07

Description

A rare Jurassic theropod tooth from the Tiouraren Formation (Niger).  Features some a few repairs and worn enamel.

It's very difficult to ID teeth from the Jurassic of Niger as there's only a small amount of published material to compare against.  This one may belong to a Megalosaurid, possibly Afrovanator abakensis, however as it's quite worn a definitive ID isn't possible. Comes labelled and stored in an acrylic case with padding. 

Tooth measurements are as follows:

Crown Base Ratio: 0.44 

Crown Height Ratio: 1.5

Mesial Serration Count (per 5mm): N/A

Distal Serration Count (per 5mm): 15

Too worn to assess how far down the crown the mesial carina extends.

Condition: Fair/Worn

Size: 1 inch

Age: 167 Million Years
