Suchomimus tenerensis Tooth | Elrhaz Formation | Niger

A Suchomimus tooth from the Elrhaz Formation of Niger. Suchomimus had conical, slightly curved teeth, perfect for catching fish which made up the majority of its diet. The tooth has no repairs or restoration.

The geological group where this tooth was found, The Elrhaz Formation, located in the Ténéré Desert of Niger, is an Early Cretaceous (112 million years ago) sedimentary unit renowned for its exceptional vertebrate fossil record. Composed of fluvial sandstones, mudstones, and conglomerates, it represents a lush, river-dominated floodplain environment with seasonal lakes and abundant vegetation. This formation is famous for yielding Suchomimus tenerensis, a piscivorous spinosaurid, alongside the sauropod Nigersaurus taqueti, crocodyliforms like Sarcosuchus imperator, and diverse fish and pterosaurs.

The tooth comes stored in a display box featuring the specimen name, region it was found, age and a QR code linking to some information about Suchomimus (fossil can be removed from the box).

This is genuine fossil. All the specimens we offer come with a lifetime authenticity guarantee.
