  • A large cross-section of tusk from a Woolly Mammoth with rare blue vivianite mineralisation.
  • £590.00
Out of stock.

Measuring 5 inches in diameter, this impressive cross-section comes from the massive tusk of a fully grown bull mammoth. It displays striking natural turquoise and indigo veining caused by rare vivianite mineralisation. As with all Siberian tusks, it has been stabilised. It has also been polished to highlight the crisp concentric growth rings.

The Woolly Mammoth (Mammuthus primigenius) is the iconic giant of the Pleistocene epoch, perfectly adapted to the harsh, frozen expanses of the ancient tundra-steppe. Navigating the cold northern latitudes alongside steppe bison and woolly rhinos, these massive herbivores used their colossal, curved tusks for foraging through deep snow, social display, and defense against apex predators like cave lions.

This is a large tusk cross-section (1 inch thick and weighing half a kilo). It makes for a stunning display piece. It comes with a simple display stand and a small card featuring the specimen name, origin and age.

This is genuine fossil. All the specimens we offer come with a lifetime authenticity guarantee.
