Woolly Mammoth Tooth | Mammuthus primigenius | North Sea

A Woolly Mammoth (Mammuthus primigenius) tooth from the North Sea. This tooth was dredged by fishermen from the North Sea which was once a vast area of low-lying land that connected Britain to continental Europe, existing during the Mesolithic period when sea levels were lower due to the Last Glacial Maximum. As is neccessary for all North Sea fossils it has been treated with preservative.

This is a very nice example, with a nice feeding surface and root structure.
