Keichousaurus hui (marine reptile)

A Keichousaurus hui (marine reptile) skeleton from the early Triassic of China. This fossil features good detail and matrix it rests in has a couple of repairs (no restoration).

Keichousaurus hui was a small marine reptile from the Triassic of southern China. It measured up to 30cm long, with a long neck, paddle-like limbs, and a slender tail, adapted for swimming in shallow marine environments. Interestingly, these Triassic predators were pachypleurosaurs, relatives of the giant plesiosaurs to come, and even gave birth to live young at sea rather than laying eggs on land.

The fossil comes with a display stand and a small card featuring the specimen name, origin and age.
