Triceratops Horn Section

A section of Triceratops horn from the Hell Creek Formation in Carter County, Montana. This formation was laid down by ancient floodplains in the Late Cretaceous and preserves fossils of Triceratops and Tyrannosaurus, as well as many other well known dinosaurs. Its top, the K-Pg boundary, marks the asteroid impact that ended the dinosaurs.

This is a very nice piece featuring good surface detail, including pits and grooves over the bone's surface, characteristic of Triceratops horns. It also has no repairs or restoration.
