A nice piece of UK malachite blanketed over a contrasting dark ironstone/limonite matrix. Sourced from Llynclys Quarry in Llanyblodwel, near Oswestry—a classic borderland copper locality.

Malachite, a vibrant green copper carbonate hydroxide mineral is prized for its swirling, banded patterns. It forms in the oxidized zones of copper deposits, where groundwater interacts with copper-rich rocks. Malachite has a rich history - ancient Egyptians used it as a pigment for cosmetics, tomb paintings, and eye makeup.

It comes with a display stand, as pictured, and a small card featuring the mineral's name and origin.
