Triceratops Frill

A piece of frill from the famous horned dinosaur, Triceratops. It comes from the Hell Creek Formation in Carter County, Montana. This formation was laid down by ancient floodplains in the Late Cretaceous and preserves fossils of Triceratops and Tyrannosaurus, as well as many other well known dinosaurs. Its top, the K-Pg boundary, marks the asteroid impact that ended the dinosaurs.

This is a nice section of frill featuring good detail, including clear channels over the surface which would have once held blood vessels supplying blood to the frill.

The bone comes stored in a display box featuring the specimen name, region it was found, age and a QR code linking to some information about Triceratops (fossil can be removed from the box).
