Mosasaur tooth

A Mosasaur tooth resting on a chunk of matrix from Khouribga, Morocco. The surroudning matrix also contains a nice fish vertebra and a coprolite (fossil dung). Mosasaurs were a group of large, predatory marine reptiles that lived during the Late Cretaceous period and they were apex predators in the oceans.

The region around Khouribga, Morocco where this tooth was found is renowned for its rich fossil deposits. The phosphate mines here expose marine sediments that preserve a diverse vertebrate fauna, including mosasaurs, plesiosaurs, and various sharks, rays, and fish like Enchodus.   

The tooth comes with a display stand as pictured and a small card featuring the specimen name, region it was found and age.
