Upper Palaeolithic Scraper (France)

An Upper Palaeolithic hand tool from Dordogne, France.  

This particular tool is a type of scraper, a unifacial tool thought to have been used for tasks such as hideworking and woodworking. Tools such as these were used by Cro-Magnon humans who, as well as leaving behind an abundance of tools in the Dordogne region of France, also created the famous palaeolithic art found in caves at Lascaux and the La Madeleine rock shelters in the Vézère Valley.

The scraper comes stored in a display box, as pictured (the scraper can be removed from the box).
