Pachycephalosaurus Skull Bone

A Pachycephalosaurus skull bone from the Hell Creek Formation in Carter County, Montana. Pachycephalosaurus, a late Cretaceous ornithischian dinosaur, is best known for its distinctive thick, domed skull. This piece was found with several other skull elements and features nice bone detail.

The formation where this bone was found, the Hell Creek Formation, was laid down by ancient floodplains in the Late Cretaceous and preserves fossils of Triceratops and Tyrannosaurus, as well as many other well known dinosaurs. Its top, the K-Pg boundary, marks the asteroid impact that ended the dinosaurs.

The bone comes stored in a display box featuring the specimen name, region it was found, age and a QR code linking to some information about Ankylosaurs (fossil can be removed from the box).
