Meteorite Slice (NWA 6622)

A slice of stony meteorite (NWA 6622) from Sahara Desert of North West Africa. This is an LL3 chondrite, meaning it’s a stony meteorite from the low-iron, low-metal (LL) group with well-preserved chondrules.

Common chondrites, also known as ordinary chondrites, are the most abundant type of meteorite found on Earth. They are ancient stony objects that formed within the solar disc about 4.5 billion years ago and which are by far the most frequently discovered "space rocks." Many of these are found in large strewnfields in the North Western Sahara.

The meteorite comes stored in a display box featuring the specimen name, region it was found, age and a QR code linking to some information about common chondrites (fossil can be removed from the box).
