Malachite (Democratic Republic of the Congo)

A large piece of malachite from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Malachite, a vibrant green copper carbonate hydroxide mineral that is prized for its swirling, banded patterns. It forms in the oxidized zones of copper deposits, where groundwater interacts with copper-rich rocks. Malachite has a rich history - ancient Egyptians used it as a pigment for cosmetics, tomb paintings, and eye makeup.

It comes with a display stand, as pictured, and a small card featuring the mineral's name, origin and its chemical formula.

This is genuine geological sample. All the specimens we offer come with a lifetime authenticity guarantee.
