A fossil Mosasaur tooth and small vertebra from the Ouled Abdoun Basin, located west of the Atlas Mountains near the city of Khouribga in Morocco. Mosasaurs were marine reptiles whose ancestors made the transition from land to sea during the mid-cretaceous, around 98 million years ago. They became the apex predators in the world's oceans during the late Cretaceous period, before being wiped out by the KT extinction event 65 million years ago.
