Cimolestes Mammal Tooth (Hell Creek Fm.) #04

Description

A Cimolestes mammal tooth from the Hell Creek Formation of Montana.  Cimolestes lived at the end of the Cretaceous period.  It's teeth were adapted to feed on insects and small animals and shared its habitat with dinosaurs such as T. rex and Triceratops.  This was still a time when dinosaurs dominated the planet, tiny mammals such as Cimolestes living in their shadow.

Please note, this is a micro-fossil and the tooth is exceptionally small (the pictures were taken with a macrolense and are magnified).  Comes labelled and stored in a gem jar.
