Palaeotherium Tooth, France #02

A Palaeotherium mammal tooth from France.  Palaeotherium was a sister taxon to modern day horses, but are not thought to be direct descendants.  It went extinct during the Grande Coupure around 33 million years ago, a faunal turnover event that saw the extinction of many mammal groups and marks the Eocene/Oligocene boundary.

This tooth comes labelled and stored in an acrylic case with padding.  Features a repair.
