Eocarcharia

"Dawn shark"

Discovered in 2000 by a team led by palaeontologist Paul Sereno, Eocarcharia was a large carnivorous dinosaur, measuring up to 8m in length, that lived in North Africa during the Early Cretaceous period.

Eocarcharia had blade shaped teeth, perfect for disabling and ripping apart its prey, which most likely consisted of medium and large herbivores. Its brow was swollen into a large band of bone, which would have given it a menacing glare.

The large band of bone across Eocarcharia's brow may have expanded into a crest.
