Ankylosaurs

Ankylosaurs were a group of heavily armored dinosaurs that roamed the Earth during the Late Cretaceous period. These formidable creatures were known for their thick, bony plates and spikes that covered their bodies, providing them with excellent protection against predators. Their defensive armor was so effective that it made them nearly invincible to most carnivores.

Ankylosaurs were typically quadrupedal and had a low-slung posture, making them difficult for predators to topple. Their tails were often clubbed at the end, which they could swing with powerful force to deter attackers. Some species also had spikes protruding from their shoulders or hips, further enhancing their defensive capabilities. Despite their imposing appearance, ankylosaurs were likely herbivores, using their strong jaws to crush tough plants and vegetation.

Some ankylosaurs may have had bony plates on their eyelids. This unique adaptation would have provided additional protection for their eyes, which were vulnerable to attacks from predators.
