Introducing

KATYA SHIOVA

My name is Katya. I'm paleo, wildlife and botanical illustrator. I am inspired by nature in all its demonstrations - whether it is the first leaf that opens in spring or ammonite dissected from stone, which is millions of years old.

Now I am working on an illustrated book about prehistoric animals inhabiting the territory of modern Ukraine. It will be called "When Ukraine was an ocean." Because of this, I spend a lot of time in natural history museums to make anatomically accurate sketches.

During one of these visits, I went to an exhibition of exotic insects and they conquered my mind. So there was a small series of watercolor moths. One of them, Little Virgin Tiger Moth, took part in the "Unbreakable Flowers" exhibition and was awarded by Billy Showell. This has inspired me to pay more attention to the world of insects pretty much.
